St Gervais is popular with families wanting a cheaper alternative to Megève. Its main ski area is on the slopes of Mont d'Arbois, which is accessed by fast gondola via Le Bettex. From here you can ski down into Megève. Heading back to St Gervais, the only run is off-piste, which can be tricky or even unskiable. Much of the skiing is pretty and tree-lined and there are some good mountain restaurants, too.
