Chalet Ecureuil de Neige

Features

  • Sleeps 8 (18 available)
  • Fireplace
  • Parking
  • Catered chalet
Inside however, it's owners have added some of their own locally sourced belongings to give this chalet a higher standard of unique décor giving a sense of alpine charm and comfort. It has a warm and inviting living/dining area with a large open fire to relax in front of after a day exploring the vast Trois Vallées ski area. All guests will benefit from the comfort of their own en suite facilities.

Location: Courchevel Moriond
Chalet Ecureuil de Neige is in a tranquil location at the entrance to Courchevel Moriond (formerly Courchevel 1650), next to chalets Lapin and Ours de Neige. The ski bus to Courchevel Village (formerly 1550), which runs approximately every 20 minutes, stops just across the road. The chalet is also only 400m (approx.) from the new escalator which takes you straight to the centre and to the lifts. From here skiers can enjoy the traditionally less crowded slopes of Courchevel Moriond, which also have a reputation for being sunny yet holding the snow superbly.

From Courchevel Village, the telecabine takes skiers directly to the Croisette in Courchevel (formerly 1850). The ski school in Village is also the largest in the Courchevel area. The bars and restaurants of the lovely ‘real’ resort of Courchevel Moriond are only 500 metres (approx).

Courchevel 1650 Resort Info

Courchevel on a realistic budget, without compromising on nightlife, atmosphere and quality of accommodation? Look no further than 1650. Just a few minutes away from Courchevel 1850, but far more down-to-earth, friendly and within reach of the average skier. Courchevel 1650 has a vast selection of chalets, some high-end hotels and some for those on a lower budget. It also has bars and restaurants with relatively reasonable prices and, if you really must, a bus service to 1850 that takes 7-10 minutes and runs until late. The atmosphere is more laid-back, with a lot of seasonnaires making this their base.

Courchevel 1650 also has a great little ski area that rarely gets visited by people staying elsewhere in the Three Valleys. The result is that the slopes are far less crowded, even at peak times and there's a good selection of runs to suit all. It's not as quick to get to Meribel and Val Thorens compared to 1850, but just make the journey part of the fun!

Snow Overview - France  (snow news updated 04-Dec-2017)

Lots of fresh snow was falling all around the French Alps on Thursday 27th April. With a lowering freezing level and heavy snow falls continuing, many French mountain villages are looking very Christmas like. On snow conditions are generally fresh, although the lower slopes are still very spring like. Up top powder conditions are abundant, however, poor visibility and limited lift access is keeping the options restricted. The current snowy and cloudy weather will break for the weekend, presenting an excellent chance to get in one last lift access powder day for the season. Many resorts will be closed next week, but there is still loads of fresh snow in the forecast. With a good knowledge of the avalanche problem, touring conditions will be exceptional well into next weekend.

European Weather Outlook

Across the central European Alps, snow and cold temperatures are forecast to stick around until Saturday. Accumulations of snow on the upper slopes could be huge for the time of year, with some Swiss resorts predicting around 80cm over the course of today and Friday. By the weekend the snow is predicted to subside in many regions and a mixture of sun and cloud is expected for much of Austria, France, Italy and Switzerland. In the Pyrenees, Saturday should be the pick of the day for any skiing in Andorra. Our featured resorts are now closed for the season, but for anyone strapping on their skins, you can expect a mixture of sun and cloud, with temperatures around +3C In Germany, 44cm of fresh snow is being forecast for Garmisch (0/380cm), who will be in disbelief at the moment for all the snow they have received of late. Further north you can expect temperatures of around -3C and snow showers in Norway, which are set to continue right through to Sunday for resorts such Trysil. Across the border in Sweden, the weather should be fairly similar, but any snow that does fall is likely to be light and bring only 1-2cm. Despite some recent biting temperatures and cold winds in the UK, any snow that does fall on the Scottish mountains is most likely to be on Thursday. Thereafter, rain could destroy any hopes of some late season turns.
