Chalet Trois S is the perfect choice for groups looking for a convenient ski-in/out location, a sociable living space and great value for money. There is no denying that this chalet is simply furnished with a hint of the 1960s, but on the plus side it boasts an extremely spacious open-plan lounge/dining room with an open fireplace and stunning views over the Vallée de Bozel. Whilst the bedrooms are basic with interesting external access to the first floor, this chalet offers extremely good value for money for a ski-in/out location with direct access to 1850.

Location: Courchevel 1550. The Trois S is in a perfect location to access the skiing and makes this the ideal choice for the ski-in/out enthusiast. It is situated right next to the Proveres piste leading into Courchevel 1550 and at the finish of the toboggan run from 1850. In the morning it is a short ski to the Grangettes Telecabine that takes you directly up to 1850. It would be hard to find a better location in the resort. Whilst Courchevel 1550 is reasonably quiet in the evening there are still some good bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of the chalet.

Courchevel 1550 Resort Info

'The most expensive resort in the French Alps'? Only partially true. Sat next to Val Thorens and Méribel, Courchevel is the most easterly of the Trois Vallées (the ski maps are back to front!) It is made up of four separate parts, each with their own character.
Directly below 1850, the small hamlet of 1550 seems a slightly sleepy alternative dominated by self catering and privately owned chalets. On the plus side, 1550 essentially shares it location with 1850 allowing for easy access to the whole 3 Valleys circuit without the expenses incurred from staying higher up the hill. Snow Overview - France  (snow news updated 31-Jan-2012)

Heavy snowfall returned to almost all our featured French resorts over the weekend. Cauterets (75/215cm) in the Pyrenees enjoyed 50cm of new snow on Sunday 29th January and Les Deux Alpes (90/300cm) received a whopping 70cm on Saturday 28th January. However, on Monday 30th January, the resort experienced low cloud cover which created poor visibility, but there were 43 lifts open. This theme was common all over France on Monday and although only a few resorts received fresh snow on Monday, the cloud cover combined with the low temperatures means further snowfall could be on the way. The southern French resorts also welcomed fresh snowfall over the weekend. This dramatically improved the pistes as it had been sometime since it had last snowed in the area. For example, Isola 2000 (45/79cm) received a respectful 20cm on Sunday 29th January and it continued to snow lightly in Foux d'Allos (55/85cm) on Monday.

European Weather Outlook

Cloudy and snowy skies are expected to loiter over the vast majority of European resorts over the coming days although only a light level of snowfall, around 1-2cm each day, is anticipated throughout the week. Sunshine is then expected to make a come back for the vast majority of resorts by the end of this week or the start of next week. The southern French Alpine resort of Isola 2000 however could receive up to 27cm of fresh snow on Tuesday 31st January, bucking the trend of just a dusting. The other weather news of note is that temperatures are set to drop, getting below -20C in many locations by the end of this week, so make sure you have some nice warm layers to put on.
