Zürs, Arlberg Area , Austria

Lower Slopes: 110cm   Upper Slopes: 240cm

Resort Overview

Forget Lech and St Anton. This is the exclusive spot of Austrian skiing - and it's nowhere near as showy. This is understated wealth. Posh hotels, top restaurants and restrained nightlife. Even the ski school is exclusive, since most instructors are hired privately or by the same clients each year. There is beautiful scenery, although the village of Zürs doesn't have quite ...

Snow Overview - Austria  (snow news updated 23-May-2012)

The snow has not yet stopped falling in Austria. Stubai (350cm) reported 60cm of new snowfall on 17th May, and although this may be the greatest amount reported at our featured and open Austrian resorts, the others have not missed out. For example, Kaprun (270cm) reported 20cm of new snow landing over Wednesday 16th May, providing powder riding conditions on Thursday. All of the ski slopes on the Dachstein Glacier (510cm) were closed on Thursday but fresh snow has fallen, improving the already great snow cover. The weather at the end of this week is forecast to be predominantly sunny for the open Austrian skiing destinations, but clouds should move in for the start of next week bringing wet weather to lower areas. However, this could result in further fresh snowfall up on the glacier slopes.

European Weather Outlook

Unfortunately it is set to be a wet and rainy week for the majority of European resorts. The good news is that snow may fall at a handful of higher altitude resorts in France, Italy and Switzerland. For instance, Chamonix and Nendaz could enjoy 11cm on Wednesday 2nd May.
