With skiing back to the door, the luxurious and comfortable Alpina is superbly run by the Platzer family and ideally situated directly above the centre and close to the slopes.

Accommodation

All twin rooms in the original ‘Sonnberg’ wing (code 4372 - internally connected to the main wing) have bath or shower and wc; larger rooms with bath and wc also have balcony; larger 2-room suites (45m²) also with balcony or terrace. In the main wing (code 4371), more spacious junior suites (37m²) have separated lounge area; deluxe suites (45m²) are much larger.The 2-roomed deluxe suite (58m²) is ideal for families. All room types have sat. TV, phone, radio, safe, bathrobes, minibar and hairdryer.

Obergurgl skiing

Obergurgl is great for beginners and intermediates, which, along with good ski schools, makes for an excellent family ski holiday destination. One of the highest resorts in Austria at 1930m, Obergurgl has an excellent snow record and long season. Linked to Hochgurgl, there are over 100km of runs to enjoy. For more advanced skiers and boarders, there is often some nice off-piste to get that adrenalin pumping, although not much else…

The resort itself is pleasing to the eye and offers a sense of alpine charm. Off snow activities are a little sparse, although après ski is jovial without being too hectic. Hotels are generally of a high standard, though there is a lack of independent restaurants (they are pretty much all part of the hotels).
