Arinsal Resort Info

The overriding impression one gets of most of the Andorran resorts is that of a summer package holiday - plenty of tax-free boozing and late nights, with skiing the secondary consideration. This is partially true for Arinsal, as our survey contributions bear out. It definitely attracts a younger crowd, who generally take advantage of cheap alcohol and a large selection of bars and clubs. If this isn't your idea of good après-ski, don't come here.

The skiing itself is very limited (only 28 km) and most of this is ideally suited to the absolute beginner or lower intermediate. If you consider yourself more advanced than that, again we would advise other destinations. But these qualities do mean that, with an excellent ski school, those looking to learn will find Arinsal absolutely ideal. It is a great first-time venue and only 7km from Andorra's capital, La Vella. This is most evident on the rather hectic weekends, although queuing has been reduced by the new high-speed 6-man cable car.

There is no international airport in the country, so you do have long transfer times from Barcelona (225km away). Overall, Arinsal ideally suits beginners and those looking for lively evenings, but there is good childcare so families are welcome. The snow is fairly reliable as well.
