Latest Fashions

General
We've done some scouting around for you and come up with a little guide to what's going to be hot on the slopes this year. So don't go accusing us if you get shopped to the fashion police.

The snowboard clothing market has been evolving at a rate of knots over the past few years. But this season, finally, the ski clothing market has been making big leaps – mainly towards an integration of the two.

Anatomically contoured jackets made from stretch fabrics have helped create a slimmer, cleaner look for this season. Forget bulk and weight and think mobility. Waists are tapered and shoulders seam-free.

Features are subtle and clever. Nike feature an inside personal stereo pocket with a headphone exit. Columbia have an inside pocket for a litre bottle of water and climbing skins.

Attention to detail is key. Powder skirts are hidden. And while it goes without saying that the one-piece is a total and utter no-no, The North Face's Arc Jacket zips subtly to their Glacier Pant to create a seamless powder suit. Pretty nifty we reckon

Waterproof & colours
Waterproof fabrics have got even better. Along with taped seams, this year's jackets have seamless shoulders. Up and coming brand Mountain Hardwear have gone one step further. They've produced a waterproof zip that has no need for a guard. It's all about attention to detail.

Colours have come on a step from last year's favourites. The mineral and graphite colours are still quite big, with moss, slate, pale gold, ice blue and lilac featuring strongly. But this year there's a subtle kick. Citrus yellows and oranges, apple greens and sky blues are appearing on details such as cuffs and necklines. Some items are more colourful and some offer only discreet splashes – keeping with the subtle theme.
