Utah Olympic Ski Venues - Deer Valley
Deer Valley, Utah, is one of the four areas which will be hosting skiing events during the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. It's a classic Utah resort, with 87 ski runs and six bowls, all served with state-of-the-art transportation, lifts and lodges.
For the Visitor
For the visitor, skiing is spread over four mountains: Empire Canyon, Flagstaff, Bald and Bald Eagle Mountains. There's a great variety of skiing for experts and novices, along with panoramic views of the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains. Deer Valley has 19 lifts, including one four passenger high-speed gondola, five high-speed detachable quads, three fixed-grip quad chairlifts, eight triple chairs and two double chairs. During the Games
During the Games, Deer Valley will be hosting the Slalom, Freestyle Moguls and Freestyle Aerials events. All the stadia were ready at the start of the 2000-2001 season. The pre-Olympic Suzuki Freestyle World Cup Moguls event in January 2001 was won by American hopeful Hannah Hardaway, promising a fascinating contest in 2002.
