Utah Olympic Ski Venues - Soldier Hollow
If you're looking for Biathlon, Cross-Country or Nordic Combined action during the Olympics, you've come to the right place. And before you ask - no, we don't know why it's called Soldier Hollow.
For the Visitor
Soldier Hollow is 69 kilometers/43 miles from Salt Lake City and approximately ten kilometers/six miles from Heber City, Utah. It is about two miles southwest of Midway in Heber Valley. Soldier Hollow is adjacent to the northwest corner of Deer Creek Reservoir.
Take Interstate 80 east past Park City to U.S. Route 40. Drive south past Jordanelle Reservoir toward Heber City. Turn right on State Route 113 and follow it to Midway. Turn left on State Route 113 to Tate Lane. Make a right turn onto Tate Lane. Turn left at Soldier Hollow Lane (formerly known as Stringtown Road) and follow the access road to the Soldier Hollow venue in Wasatch Mountain State Park.
During the Games
All of the Cross-Country skiing-based events will take place at Soldiers Hollow, from the individual X-C races to relays, biathlon and the skiing part of the combined. There will be an event every day of the Games, and some of the most gruelling duels will be fought out on Soldier Hollow's rolling terrain.
